Thanks to the enriching Erasmus+ program 'Yes to migration, no to extremism', we have been able to learn first-hand about this issue that has caused so much suffering and that has forever marked the history of our lives.
We had the chance to study about Slovakia's history and the key moments that influenced its culture and society when we were on exchange there. The concentration camps in Slovakia were one of the most significant and crucial subjects we looked into.
We were able to learn about the horrific reality of these camps and the crimes perpetrated in them during World War II by visiting historical places, museums, and with the assistance of native guides who informed us about the subject. We also learned about the complex history of the nation, its part in the conflict, and the revolt of some Slovaks who risked their lives to free others from Nazi rule.
The encounter was deeply touching and enlarged our worldview. It got us thinking about how important it is to be tolerant and compassionate toward people who are different from us and motivated us to treat people with more consideration and compassion. In conclusion, we gained a lot of knowledge about Slovakia's past and relished the chance to visit its concentration camps in person.
